Yangon (formerly called Rangoon) is Myanmar’s largest city and has been marked as the largest city, the center of commerce and logistics and also a popular destination in Myanmar tourism. The most famous and ancient Buddhist temple is the Shwedagon Pagoda, which is a monumental golden Buddhist shrine with a huge shimmering pagoda complex that attracts thousands of pilgrims every year. Other historic sites in the city include the Botataung and Sule pagodas which are believed to house Buddhist relics. Bagan is an ancient city located on the banks of the Irrawaddy (Ayeyarwady) River in Mandalay region in Central Myanmar. Bagan was formerly a capital and a center of a powerful Pagan empire which flourished for over 400 years. Today, it is a renowned UNESCO heritage site. Bagan is commonly termed as a sea of temples by people across the world. It has the largest and densest concentration of Buddhist temples, pagodas, stupas and ruins in the world. The best time to visit Bagan is from November to May when there is little rainfall in the area.

Bagan at sunrise and sunset is one of the most memorable sights in the world. The shimmering number of pagodas, stupas and temples (approx 3000) is why Myanmar is known as the golden land. The country’s most significant concentration of religious structures can be seen in Bagan, famous worldwide for its spectacle.

Sanda Muni Paya is a temple that has a large golden Buddha statue. Jade Market is a great place to buy jade jewelry and other souvenirs. Mingun Bell is a large bell that was cast in 1808 and is one of the largest ringing bells in the world.

Inle Lake is a beautiful lake in Myanmar that has many attractions for tourists. Some of the popular attractions include exploring the lake by boat, watching traditional fishermen, visiting floating villages, seeing local handicrafts such as scarfs and fisherman trousers, visiting Indein village which has many pagodas and visiting Cat monastery & Hpaung Daw U Pagoda.
