Countryside Mountain Biking Explorer Full day Tour

  • Tour code: LG-07
  • Duration: 1 Day
This tour is designed to keep you on paved surface but still take you to beautiful temples and villages, through jungle and mountain landscape, and to the Nam Khan River and Tad Sae Waterfall. Enjoy a day biking through the surrounding areas of Luang Prabang. The biking is on 95% paved road so it’s great if you’re looking to avoid any mud or dust but still want to get out and see it all. This is medium biking, mostly level, with a few steep hills.

  • Explore Luang Prabang, through teakwook forests and rice fields along the Nam Khan river
  • Biking through villages and past jungle covered mountains.
  • Explore beautiful scenery back to Luang Prabang city by boat to our bikes and cycle or take a boat ride and short jungle walk

High water season, August to January:

This tour is great during the high water season when the waterfall is flowing and dirt roads can be too challenging.

You’ll meet your guide early morning to get fitted on one of our quality mountain bikes. We’ll ride from the city center to our first stop as we depart the city at Wat Pa Phon Phao, a golden temple with a great view of Luang Prabang.

Then we’ll follow the paved road further through teakwood forests and rice fields along the Nam Khan River to visit the resting spot of Henry Mouhot before biking our way through villages and past jungle-covered mountains until arriving at our Camp terrace on the banks of the Nam Khan River.

There, we’ll board one of our boats for a cruise upriver to the Tad Sae waterfall where we’ll take lunch and enjoy the beautiful area and swim in the jungle. There are also elephants in the area you can watch and photograph or you can buy some bananas and feed them.

We’ll return by boat to our bikes and cycle our way through beautiful scenery back to Luang Prabang City.

Low water season, February to July:

In the low water season, Tad Sae waterfall is dry. Lunch and activities will be at our Camp and we’ll take a boat ride and short jungle walk to see a baby elephant instead of the waterfall (depends on location of the elephant and availability).
